A clubber’s guide to the Balearic Islands

The team at Directline-holidays regularly receive enquiries about the Balaeric Island clubbing scene. Some travellers are eager to find out about places offering cheap entry and drinks. Others have a specific interest in lounge music and certain big name DJ’s. You may even be wondering about where to find intimate nightclubs, in which local musicians entertain the crowds. This article addresses these subjects, and many more besides!

Magical Menorca

The relatively small island of Menorca may not be the first destination that comes to the mind of eager party goers. However, it is home to a number of cool entertainment venues that are certainly worth a visit. For those of you who enjoy the sultry sounds of the saxophone and deep tones of the double bass there’s the Jazzbah of Cala ‘N Porter. Alternatively you could get your groove on to the up tempo tunes played by local musicians at the Limoo Bar. There’s even a cocktail bar selling a variety of potent Mediterranean mixes in this place.

If you’re keen to see top DJ’s such as William Belart and Mendo spin the most awesome records then schedule a visit to the Cova d’En Xoroi as part of your Directline-holidays to Menorca. You’ll rock away the night with a friendly bunch of international travellers and locals in this popular cave bar. And you might also like to make time for a fun filled evening at the Alkere music bar of Mahon, which is a favourite celebrity hang-out.

Mighty Majorca

This Mecca for international tourists has a deserved reputation as one of the best party islands in Europe. No matter whether you like Reggae, R & B or cheesy pop, there’ll be somewhere that tickles your fancy in this part of the world. You could start out in Palma, the capital city and home of the LaRue Hip Hop Club. If the intimate feeling of this late night venue isn’t to your liking then you can always follow the crowds to Pacha in Son Caliu, which features 3 dance floors, an outdoor terrace and plush chill out zone.

If you really want to party it large on holidays to Majorca then you should make the trip to Magaluf. Upon arrival you’ll be struck by the beauty of the white sand beaches and the wide range of hip and happening nightclubs. A host of well known DJs have spun the decks at the enormous club of BCM in recent times. And for a totally crazy night out you should pay a visit to Bananas!

Impressive Ibiza

The biggest and best known of the Balearic party islands is Ibiza. It has been attracting vast numbers of tourists ever since the tourist boom of the late 1960s and early 1970s. The Café del Mar was one of the first entertainment venues to be developed in this area. It still draws in the crowds due to its spectacular beach-front location and varied musical offerings. You may also be interested in visiting Pacha, an extremely popular club where DJ’s such as David Guetta and Erick Morillo have performed.

Your holidays to Ibiza won’t feel complete unless you’ve spent at least one night dancing to to the pulsating trance tracks at Privilege, the world’s biggest nightclub. It’s worth packing your swimming costume for a dip in the giant pool. And you should also be prepared for awe inspiring shows put on by the resident entertainers. Don’t despair if you can only afford one night out at Privilege, because there’s a number of smaller clubs such as the Ibiza Underground and DC10, which regularly offer free entry and cheap beers and spirits.
