The Magical Maldives: Top Five Attractions

Surrounded by the smooth dazzling azure waters of the Indian Ocean, the Maldives is the perfect paradise getaway. Rolling golden sands, vibrant towns and gloriously warm temperatures – the Maldives has everything you could want for that special dream holiday.

For those planning a trip to the Maldives, here are five attractions well worth seeing:

1. Flawless beaches
The almost flawless sandy beaches of the Maldives make the location perfect for the holiday of a lifetime. Sitting beneath a stunning blue sky and running silky golden sand beneath your toes, while contemplating a swim in the water, or enjoying a cool drink, can be idyllic, and there are so many beaches to be enjoyed.

2. The Malé National Museum
This is a great location to visit and explore the unique and fascinating history of the Maldives. The museum is filled with artefacts and interesting objects and was opened to the public in 1952 to hold a record of the island’s history.

3. Watersports
While the Maldives is stunning from every angle, it is truly magical beneath the waters and diving and snorkelling is a great way to see some of the hidden sights of the island. Some holiday packages may include snorkelling, such as Club Med holidays in the Maldives, so it is well worth looking into this option. It’s one of the best and most beautiful places to dive in the world, boasting unusual fish, splendid turtles and a range of plants and reefs.

4. Naifaru Island
This island in the Maldives is a great family location and the perfect place to visit with your children. With sand mountains to climb, shopping opportunities, plenty of fun watersports and top resorts and restaurants, this is the ideal destination for a wonderful family holiday.

5. The Maldives Esejihi Art Gallery
This is almost like looking at an exquisite piece of art itself. This striking looking building dates back to the 1870s and contains not only a gallery but a workshop for working artists. The art gallery is one of the oldest buildings in Malé, filled with amazing panels and some superb carvings which adorn the inside of the building itself. The exhibitions are fascinating and it is possible to buy local art as well meeting the artists themselves if they are present.
